National Security Advisor Dr Moeed Yousaf has said Pakistan kept warning the United States that the military solution to Afghanistan would fail, reported 24News HD TV channel on Thursday.
In an article in Foreign Affairs, a leading American journal, Dr Moeed wrote that instability in Afghanistan would have devastating effects on the Afghan people, and Pakistan and neighboring countries would also be affected by it. He said there was no military solution to the Afghan war.
The article is titled, “How Pakistan Sees Afghanistan: Peace Is Possible Only If the World Engages With the Taliban”
“Pakistan has paid a heavy price for the US war on terror. More than 50 militant groups were born in the same land,” he wrote.
In his article, he further said that the terrorist groups targeted the Pakistani state for cooperating with the US. He said we were still hosting about 4 million Afghan refugees today.
He appealed to the international community to move forward with the consultation of the new government in Kabul and play a positive role in achieving peace and stability in the country. He said detachment from Afghanistan was not an option for Pakistan as stability in Afghanistan was important for regional connectivity with Central Asia
