Within 24 hours of their loss to Thailand, Pakistani women cricket team bounced back as they defeated India, for only the third time in their cricket history, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pakistan successfully defended 138 runs as they bowled out India for 124 in 19.4 overs in the 13th match of Women’s Asia Cup being played in Bangladesh.
Chasing 138 runs, opener Sabbhineni Meghana scored 15 runs before getting dismissed in the 4th over by Nashra Sandhu. The player in form, Jemimah Rodrigues, failed as she scored mere 2 runs. Smriti held the crease till the 10th over but was dismissed for 17 runs by Sandhu.
Wickets kept falling as Pakistan kept finding ways to break Indian partnerships. Dayalan Hemalatha scored 20 runs, while Richa Ghosh looked to be running away with the game at the end with her quickfire 26 runs off 13 balls with a fours & three sixes. However, her dismissal in the 19th over by Sadia Iqbal sealed the match for Pakistan.
India were bowled out for 124 runs in 19.4 overs. For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu picked up 3 wickets while Sadia Iqbal and Nida Dar grabbed two wickets each. Aiman Anwer and Tuba Hassan also managed 1 wicket each.
In the first innings, Nida Dar scored an unbeaten 56 runs off 37 balls (4x5, 6x1) while captain Maroof contributed 32 runs (4x2) as Pakistan managed 137/6 in 20 overs. For India, Deepti Sharma picked up 3 wickets, Pooja Vastrakar picked up 2 wickets while Renuka Singh managed 1 wicket.
Earlier, Pakistan women captain Bismah Maroof won the toss and opted to bat first against India in the 13th match of Women's Asia Cup. This match was played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet.
