A group of five armed robbers Friday managed to escape with a substantial amount of cash after a heist that unfolded at a bank, situated within the jurisdiction of the Civil Line Police Station, Faisalabad, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, the robbers stormed into the bank in the morning and swiftly overpowered the three security guards, assaulting them and wresting their weapons away.
One of the guards attempted to thwart the robbers by opening fire, but the dacoits reacted swiftly, snatching the guard's firearm and firing several rounds into the air.
The CPO Usman Akram Gondal, SP, and other officials arrived at the scene.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts to track down the robbers are currently underway.
CPO Usman Gondal indicated that the true extent of the stolen amount is likely to become apparent following a detailed investigation.
“Currently, the SP and his team are engaged in an examination of the evidence, aiming to provide a precise assessment of the stolen funds,” he added.
