Responding to Adviser to KP CM on Information Barrister Saif’s allegation that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur had been arrested from the KP House in Islamabad, the government on Sunday said that the CM was not in custody of any agency and had left the KP House on his own, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

While refuting reports that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur had been arrested, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi said that the chief minister had left the KP House, pictures of which were available.

Talking to the media after offering the funeral prayer for slain Islamabad Police constable Abdul Hameed, the minister said “The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) have raided every place where he (CM) could be hiding; but in vain.”

Naqvi vowed to bring those responsible for the killing of the constable to justice.

He paid rich tributes to the slain cop and offered his condolences to the bereaved family.

The minister announced that the government would completely look after the deceased’s family.

On the other hand, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, too, said that the government had nothing to do with the disappearance of the provincial chief minister, who, he said, had gone on his own.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, the governor said that Gandapur was trying to be in the good books of both Imran Khan and the establishment at the same time. “There is corruption everywhere in KP,” he said, and accused the CM of using provincial resources on the PTI’s march on Islamabad.

Talking to the media in Peshawar, Barrister Saif had said the government’s argument that it had no knowledge about the whereabouts of Gandapur was a ‘joke’. “The vandalism done at the KP House substantiates our claim that the CM was forcibly taken into custody,” he said, and added, “The storming of the KP House by large contingents of the law-enforcement agencies is an attack on federation.”

Saif further said that Governor Kundi was making statements despite the fact that he had nothing to do with all happening in Islamabad.

"What will the foreign dignitaries think on their visit to Pakistan for the SCO summit?" he questioned.

"They will be astonished to learn about the state of democracy in the country where a chief executive of a province is whisked away," he said, adding, "Today the KP Assembly's session has been convened to discuss the issue."
