September 7, 2020 04:40 PM

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took notice of the murder of a five-year-old girl Marwah, whose torched body was found from a roadside garbage dump in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The performance of police was again put to test as the family of the victim girl was asked to go and look for their daughter themselves. The family said the police even asked them to arrange posters of Marwa and distribute them in the city on their own. The family and their neighbours staged a protest against the police's apathy.

After the media pursued the incident, Pir Ilahi Buksh Colony (PIB) Police said 11 suspected persons have been arrested in the rape and murder of the minor girl.

The medical report confirmed that the girl was raped before the culprit hit her head with a stone which caused the death, Dr Zakia of Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre informed the media. According to the autopsy report, Marwah was hit hard on the head after she was raped.

The torched body of the minor girl was recovered on Sunday from a garbage heap on an empty plot in Karachi's Old Sabzi Mandi area, two days after she was reported to have gone missing, police said. The body was shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre where a post-mortem examination was held.

In his reaction, Bilawal Bhutto said that the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl is an inhuman incident. He directed Sindh police to arrest the culprit and brought him to justice. Bilawal said torture and burning after the rape of a flower-like minor girl is a heart-wrenching tragedy.
