The Thoracic Surgery Department of the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) has started an exchange programme with German and UK varsities to impart training facilities to the doctors at par with international standards
In the first phase, Dr Nabil Khan of Pakistani origin came from German University on a one-week attachment.
Pakistani-born Canadian Dr Nabil Khan said, “I am greatly delighted to see the thoracic surgery facility at SIMS.”
He said the opportunity to learn a lot has been made available in the department and there is a prospect to benefit from each other's experiences.
Head Of The Thoracic Surgery Department Prof Dr Shoaib Nabi an understanding with Thoracic Clinic, Heidelberg University, Germany has been developed for providing quality training to foreign doctors.
In the first phase, Dr Nabil Khan has joined in and shortly other doctors will also attend the department in order to get training which is a matter of prestige for our institute.
He said we are making all-out efforts to improve the performance of trainee doctors through quality training workshops.
Services Hospital Dr Shoaib Nabi said that cooperation is being promoted with experts from Germany and the United Kingdom. Under the exchange program, the doctors of the Department of Thoracic Surgery will also get opportunities to work in foreign countries.
