Contrary to the claims, the documents show that the last government of the parties, part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), had not only made complete payment to TV channels and newspapers for the ads, but also cleared the arrears left by the last PTI government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Yesterday, PTI senators kept highlighting an amount of Rs9 billion at the standing committee meeting.

However, the documents, which 24News TV channel has managed to get hold of, tell a different story.

According to these documents, the coalition government even paid over Rs2 billion to media outlets in arrears that dated back to the PTI government’s one-year period, from July 2021 to June 2022.

Similarly, the last government paid over Rs2 billion in arrears to print and electronic media and even digital media between May 2022 and July 2023, while it paid over Rs980 million also in arrears to print (classified), print (display) and electronic media between July 2022 and July 2023.
