Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken stern action over the misconduct of the food secretary in the wake of the sugar crisis.

He ordered the replacement of the food secretary and asked the Chief Minister Inspection Team chairman to launch a comprehensive inquiry.

Irrigation Secretary Wasif Khurshid has been given the additional charge of food secretary.

A couple of days ago, the chief minister presided over a meeting on measures to control sugar price.

The food secretary briefed the meeting, saying the court stay was a hurdle in controlling the prices.

The chief minister issued directives to step up efforts to cope with the challenge.
