When the fence starts eating the field, then who will take care of it? General (R) Faiz Hameed created this situation for the Pakistan Army. The statement issued after Tuesday's Corps Commanders' Conference is all the more important as the agency's overall stance is awaited after Faiz Hameed's arrest.
Although there was an earlier impression that the necessary consultation and consensus would have been taken before the former ISI chief was taken into custody, it was sealed after the press release came out, making it clear to all that the Army was An organized institution whose professionalism and loyalty of every individual is only to the State and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, the Pakistan Army upholds its values with unwavering commitment through strong and strict accountability, without any kind of partiality and there is no room for exceptions, the implementation of the strict accountability system in the army is necessary for the stability of the institution and no individual can be above and exempted from this process.
The Pakistan Army has made it clear without naming names that it is not possible for General (R) Faiz Hameed or any other officer to get away with taking action against the state. It is an undeniable fact that if the Pakistan Army is a professional and highly organized organization, the main reason for this is the strict accountability system. Especially when someone tries to break discipline in an organization by breaching the chain of command and ganging up, avoiding or allowing him to escape is tantamount to allowing him to wreak havoc.
It is impossible to deny the fact that Project Imran was not only the creation of Pasha, Zaheer Islam, and Faiz Hameed but it was a joint project of the organization. Launched after a long period of cultivation, it also arranged for the continuous discrediting of all the competitors before it. Thus its roots spread to the houses of judges and generals. General Qamar Javed Bajwa's greed for power, follies and "charisma" of Goldsmith House created a monster in the form of so-called popularity. When it was decided to get rid of Project Imran, it was also the institution's decision, but some of the idol makers fell in love with their "artwork”.
There were some, including Faiz Hameed, who had gone too far in the pursuit of advancement, they thought of themselves as emperors. If Faiz Hameed continued to give political support to Imran Khan by violating the military rules even after his service or retirement, his service colleagues could only explain him in the most lenient terms. Even when Faiz Hameed along with his subordinate officers continued to loot like Top City, there was room for concealment in the "wider interest" of the organization.
The dangerous act of bringing terrorists from Afghanistan and freeing the subversives in jails could have been "digested" but Faiz Hameed started conspiracies against the army while he was still in the army. The parallel network that Faiz Hameed had created through ISI had become so strong that other generals could not understand it properly or remained silent for expediency.
The workers of Faiz network had become so strong that after the success of the motion of no confidence against Imran Khan, Arshad Sharif, Sabir Shakir and a couple of others were fearlessly propagandizing on a private TV that an American personality met Army Chief Bajwa at a secret location in Rawalpindi and asked him to remove the government. Faiz Hameed was a former general, who had been the DG of ISI, but the knowledge of the judiciary, media and bureaucracy was that he was not paying attention to anyone until a few days ago.
Faiz Hameed was confident that as the head of ISI, he was aware of all national secrets and he also had the support of the American and Western lobbies from above so no one would be able to lay hands on him. Self-interested General Qamar Bajwa, knowing everything during his time, kept watching the spectacle silently and contributed to the infamy of the Pakistan Army through his criminal negligence.
After the change in the command of the army, the next army chief, General Asim Munir, also showed extraordinary patience even on May 9th. Attempts were made to explain this incident for a long time, but when it was noted that Faiz Hameed would not understand the language of love to withdraw from the plan of mutiny in the army, so there was no other way left. But the hand was laid.
The root of the problem has been caught, and all the operatives of the Faiz network spread like the bowels of Satan are now struggling to save themselves. Imran Khan is shouting in jail. The assistants included in the jail staff were arrested. The judges whose tongues were flaming against the current military and intelligence leadership have now started talking incoherently in a weak tone.
Fake degrees and dual citizenship are becoming a trap. Others may be embroiled in patronage and corruption scandals. Until a few weeks ago, it seemed that the Faiz Hameed Network would turn its own organization and system upside down. Now it seems that the Faiz Hameed network has been hit by the ruthless waves of self-imposed accountability.
