Amid the calls for providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare workers, two more doctors were tested positive in Mianwali and Rahim Yar Khan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
In Mianwali, it was a lady doctor working at the DHQ Hospital who visited Rawalpindi for an exam some days back. She was tested for the coronavirus as she felt the symptoms after her return. Meanwhile, her five family members were also quarantined.
A total of 19 people have so far been tested positive for the virus in Mianwali.
On the other hand, a doctor, who was part of a team tracking and testing the coronavirus patients, have been tested positive.
Soon after receiving his test report, two tracking and testing teams working in the district were quarantined. The samples of their members have been sent to a lab for tests.
The coronavirus has so far claimed two lives in Rahim Yar Khan, as Deputy Commissioner Ali Shehzad on Tuesday confirmed that the virus was found 18 people in the district.
The healthcare staff are facing a severe shortage of personal protection equipment in small cities and towns amid the coronavirus pandemic.
But the situation is not good even in big cities like Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi where several doctors and nurses have so far been tested positive.
Islamabad, the country’s capital, is the worst example instead of being a model, as the virus has been found in three doctors and a nurse at PIMS, the city’s main hospital.
Similarly, three doctors and a sweeper were tested positive at Islamabad’s second-largest health facility, Polyclinic Hospital.
