Punjab govt announces financial package for artists

Rs20,000 each will be given to 1,360 artists

The Punjab government has announced a financial package for 1360 artists in the wake of coronavirus lockdown in the province.

Punjab Information and Culture Department said that Rs 20,000 would be given to 1360 artists of Punjab under the Artist Support Fund. This financial support is for the month of March, April and May, said the department. Artists can get the cash from Punjab Social Protection Authority centres across the province. The department said that the decision was taken in the wake of current coronavirus situation.

Currently, all the theatres and cinemas are closed, as the Punjab government extended the lockdown until April 14. Therefore the Punjab government felt for the artists and announced a package for them.
