A police party killed two dacoits of 'Topi Gang' in an alleged police encounter in the Shahdara Town area of Lahore, 24NewHD TV Channel reported on Monday.
According to the police, when they tried to stop 4 armed men on 2 motorcycles at the Shahdara bridge, they opened fire on the law enforcers.
As a result of retaliatory action from the policemen, two suspects were killed who were later identified as Abbas and Ali Haider while the other two companions succeeded in escaping on motorbike.
Police said that the dead accused belonged to the 'Topi Gang' who had killed two people including a girl and injured the girl's father after resisting robbery in a milk shop on Ghoray Shah Road.
The police have said that the Topi gang had shot and killed the police constable from whom they also snatched the official rifle and escaped some days ago.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took serious notice of the Tope gang's criminal violence in the city.
The police shifted the dead bodies of the Topi gang members to the mortuary. Police have also started an investigation to identify the escaped motorcyclists.
