The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to launch a movement in Punjab to address the growing concerns of farmers, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the top leadership of the PPP has instructed its Punjab chapter to prepare for the Kisan Rights Movement, aimed at highlighting the plight of farmers across the province.

According to sources, a three-member Kisan Committee was formed a few months ago under the leadership of Nadeem Asghar Kaira. The committee has now been tasked with engaging farmers’ associations to finalise the movement's structure and objectives.

The Kisan Committee will report its findings and proposals to the party’s central leadership and finalise a strategy for launching the movement, sources added.

The PPP plans to raise the issue of the Punjab government's failure to announce the wheat support price at every available forum, sources further revealed.

PPP’s lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly will also join forces with the opposition to highlight farmers’ issues on the assembly floor.

Moreover, the PPP will actively participate in all upcoming protests organised by farmers to express solidarity with the agricultural community, the sources said.
