Punjab government has ignited the privatization process of Teaching Hospital in the province as after Jinnah Hospital, government was set to outsource Mayo Hospital’s lab testing department, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
The Department of Specialized Health has decided to hand over the pathology department of Mayo Hospital to the private sector on contract for three years. The Department of Specialized Health has invited applications in this regard. Applications can be submitted until April 28 to take Mayo's lab on contract. The provincial government will provide funds worth crores of rupees to a private institution to run Mayo hospital's lab.
After the privatization, new contractor will provide testing facilities to indoor, outdoor and emergency patients by hiring its own staff.
