A big tragedy was averted at the Kasur Family Court when a woman was caught carrying a loaded pistol, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
The woman, identified as Sughran Bibi, was appearing for a hearing in her khula (divorce) case against her husband, Sardar Muhammad.
The channel reported that Sughran Bibi was accompanied by her 25-year-old son, Noman, when she arrived at the court premises.
Security personnel at the main gate of the Family Court discovered the weapon during routine checking. The pistol was found to be loaded with 30 bullets.
Police from B-Division Police Station reached the scene immediately, took the weapon and ammunition into custody, and started further legal proceedings.
The swift action by court security likely prevented a possible violent incident inside the courtroom.
