An anti-terrorism court in Skardu convicted and sentenced three accused to death in a gang-rape case in which a girl was sexual assaulted for seven months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In his judgment, the anti-terrorism court judge, Jawad-ul-Hassan, also imposed a fine of Rs1 million each on Abid Hussain, Sakhawat Ali and Asghar Ali.
With the victim girl ganged-raped for such a period, it was social media that highlighted the case which occurred in the Arandu area of Shigar – a valley located in Skardu district.
As a result, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court Chief Justice Malik Haq Nawaz took notice of the issue and ordered swift action.
Later, the anti-terrorism court completed this trial within a month and convicted the three culprits after recording statements of multiple eyewitnesses and on the basis of the evidence presented by the prosecution.
