PPP, PTI workers clash during polling in AJK LB polls

A clash reputed between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan People’s Party workers at the Government Primary School of Jamalpur Ward 12 polling station in Kotli area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Monday during polling for the third phase of local body elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A polling agent of PTI was seriously injured during the fight. Polling of local body elections was halted afterwards.
Earlier, polling for the third and final phase of the local government (LG) elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) commenced in three districts of Mirpur division - Kotli, Mirpur and Bhimber – amid fool-proof security on Thursday.
The polling starting time was 8 AM but it started with a delay in several wards. The polling will continue till 5 PM. Polling started on time at Polling station number 84 and 85 of Municipal Corporation Mirpur Ward number 24.
Fool-proof security has been ensured to avoid any untoward incident. An original national identity card is compulsory for voters to cast their vote.
Supporters of political rivals came face to face in Mirpur
The law and order situation become critical during polling at sector Kalial polling station when the brother of a female MLA reached the polling station. Upon his arrival, his supporters and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate came face to face and started slogans against each other. Contingent of police and Rangers have reached the spot to keep the situation under control.
