Exonerating former Punjab minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Mashhood in youth festival misappropriation case, the National Accountability Board (NAB), Lahore has closed the investigation against him, citing lack of evidence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Quoting sources, the channel reported the bureau had also sent details of the investigation to its Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal.
The PML-N leader had been Sports Board’s Steering Committee vice chairman as well as the chairman of its organizing body.
He was the Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs when the youth festival was held in 2013.
Sources added that anti-corruption watchdog had failed to find evidence of irregularities against the minister, leading to closure of the investigation.
Now when Mashhood’s name has been cleared in the case, the NAB would now focus on allegations against former DG Sports Board and others.
