A violent incident disrupted the polling process in Jhang provincial constituency PP 127 on Thursday, as unidentified persons stormed the polling station and ran away with the ballot boxes.

According to the presiding officer, the assailants were supporters of an independent candidate and they also tortured him and his staff. He said that there were more than 500 vote slips in the boxes that were taken away.

A team of election commission officials reached the polling station to investigate the matter and restore order. The incident has raised serious questions about the security and transparency of the elections in the area.
