The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has dispelled rumours of an internet shutdown on election day, assuring that services will remain active throughout the day on February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.


A PTA spokesman told media that the authority was committed to maintain seamless internet connectivity on this crucial day, allowing for uninterrupted communication and access to information for the electorate and the general populace.


He said by ensuring internet services remain uninterrupted on election day, the PTA aims to support the democratic process, safeguard economic interests, and maintain Pakistan’s connectivity and reputation on the global stage.


The government, acknowledging the critical role of the internet, voiced its commitment to keeping digital platforms accessible.
