Sukkur Police gears up to arrest Sofia Mirza over fraud case

Sukkur Police Saturday geared up and demanded permission for the arrest of actress Sofia Mirza following a recent fraud case where she extorted millions by deception, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sukkur Senior Superintendent (SSP) of Police Sanghar Malik wrote a letter to the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh and demanded permission to arrest Sofia Mirza along with her sister Maryam Mirza and her Manager Maira Khurram nominated in the fraud case.

SSP Sukkur filed a case against Sofia and her facilitators on the application of a citizen Sanaullah Mahesar. He stated that Sofia Mirza and her sister Maryam Mirza committed to performing a dance on a wedding night for Rs1.5 million out of which Rs one million was asked for in advance. There are witnesses of the payment in advance.

He stated that the group did not reach the venue on the wedding day and neither they returned nor answered the calls. Maira Khurram, her manager answered the call and upon demanding the advance back, she said that it will be delivered. Instead of the payment, an unidentified woman along with five gunmen came and threatened dangerous consequences if the advance was ever asked for again.

Upon the permission of the IG, Sukkur police will leave for Punjab taking lady constables along under the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) for their arrest.

Sofia Mirza is also accused of stabbing her husband in 2007 and also of the kidnapping of a girl named Fatima in 2012. A High profile case of Money laundering against Sofia Mirza has been reopened by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) which was earlier closed in the time of the leader of the Assets Recovery Unit Shehzad Akbar.

The Corporate Crime Circle of FIA Karachi has confirmed that Sofia Mirza has been summoned for investigation in the money laundering case.
