Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Monday ordered the completion of Meo Cancer Hospital at Manawan in Lahore during the ongoing month of January, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing a meeting in Lahore, he ordered necessary steps to open the hospital for the patients as early as possible.
He said that the King Edward Medical University would manage the administrative and financial matters of the hospital.
The chief minister said that a proposal was under consideration to shift the Cancer Ward from Mayo Hospital to the cancer hospital under-construction at Manawan.
Expressing concern that there was not a single hospital for cancer patients at the government level in Punjab, he said it was his endeavor to build a state-of-the-art hospital for the treatment of life-taking disease. “A hospital where the deserving patients could be provided treatment free of cost,” the CM said.
Planning & Development Board chairman, additional chief secretary, secretary finance, secretary construction and communication, secretary health, King Edward Medical University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mehmood Ayyaz and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
