Lahore acid attack: Two suspects nabbed at Sialkot airport

Lahore police Monday claimed to have arrested two suspects who are involved in an attack on a girl with acid in Lahore over the refusal of a marriage proposal, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the police officials, both accused were caught at Sialkot AirPort in the nick of time when they were about to fly for UEA after committing the heinous crime.

SSP Investigation Dr. Anush Masood had tasked the police team to arrest the accused immediately.

Shahdara Town Police Station Incharge Investigation Munir Ahmed along with his team arrested the accused namely, Umar Farooq and Ghulam Mustafa, who happened to be the close relatives of the victim.

The victim is a chemistry teacher and faced the ordeal due to her refusal of a marriage proposal offered by one of the arrested suspects. In retaliation, they attacked her with acid.

Dr. Anosh Masood Chaudhry announced commendations for the police team involved in the timely and effective operation.

She said that the use of cutting-edge technology, including human intelligence and advanced tools played a pivotal role in the rapid arrest of the acid attack suspects.

Both culprits are now in police custody and will face stringent legal consequences, including prosecution through police partnership for the protection of citizens, she added.

She emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety of citizens, pledging continued efforts to protect lives and property.
