The Civil Aviation Authority has put a ban on the early morning taking off and landing of airbuses from the Lahore airport for two months starting from July 12 to avoid incidents of birds striking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In the backdrop of rising bird striking incidents, the CAA in order to make air travel safe decided on Friday to disallow taking off and landing of airplanes at Allama Iqbal International Airport for two months.

According to the CAA spokesperson, from July 12, no plane could land or take off from the airport from 5 in the morning till 8am. This step has been taken to make the air travel safe and sound as the number of birds is increasing due to monsoon season, he added.

The national and international airlines have been asked to strictly act upon this direction.

However, in case of emergency, the planes could land at the airport.

The CAA has launched an information campaign regarding safe air travel during the Eid holidays. All national and international airlines have been issued official notification directing them to strictly adhere to their flight schedules.

The spokesperson informed that the Pakistan International Airline has also made changes in its flight schedule.
