Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Sunday directed the concerned officials to completely digitize health and education departments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chairing a meeting in Peshawar on the introduction of reforms in sectors of health and education, the chief minister directed that schools be opened in rented buildings as per requirement and teachers be hired in these schools on contract.

Matters related to the launching of telehealth and tele-education systems also came under discussion at the meeting.

Besides that, the meeting also discussed the issuance of education cards on the pattern of health cards so that children in far-flung areas of the province could be admitted to private schools.

Gandapur also ordered the devolution of powers in the health and education sectors so that the system could be streamlined. “Service delivery can only be improved if powers are devolved,” he opined.

Observing that it was impossible for the provincial government to properly manage these sectors, the CM directed that additional director generals be appointed at a regional level in health and education departments.

In order to ensure the provision of facilities at government hospitals and schools, he ordered that teachers and the paramedical staff recruited on the basis of their domiciles be appointed in the areas of their domiciles.

Gandapur ordered the compilation of data on medical equipment, which had not been used at government hospitals so far, in one week.

Senior officials of ministries of health, education and planning were present on the occasion.
