Polio virus has been confirmed in the environmental sample of Lasbela district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
As per details, the Pakistan Anti-Polio Program has confirmed the polio virus in the sewage of Jamali Muhalla of Lasbela district of Balochistan province.
The sample was taken on May 21.
This year, a total of three sewage samples from Lasbela district have been polio-positive.
According to sources, the polio virus in Lasbela's sewage is genetically related to Karachi East.
This year 173 samples of 44 districts have turned out to be polio-positive.
Pakistan Anti-Polio Program to run campaign from June 10 to 14.
Pakistan Anti-Polio Program decided to run a polio campaign in three additional districts of Punjab after receiving polio-positive environmental samples, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
As per details, the campaign will be organized in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Muzaffargarh.
The campaign will be conducted in five specific tehsils of the districts including three tehsils of Bahawalpur, one of Muzaffargarh, and one of Rahim Yar Khan.
The campaign will be held from June 10 to 14.
Seven thousand polio workers will participate in the campaign during which 9 lakh children will be given polio drops.
