Alvi, Imran vow to further empower Pakistani women

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday paid glowing tributes to the Pakistani women on the International Women’s Day.
Taking to Twitter, President Alvi quoted the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the role and power of women and shared Jinnah’s picture with his sister Fatima Jinnah, Mother of the Nation. Quaid’s quote on women shared by the president stated: “Power of women is greater than the pen and sword.”
The president tweeted a list of resolutions and obligations that people, men and the country owed to its women. The tweet read: “On #WomensDay we agree that Pakistan as a state & all its citizens must ensure for Women: Equal opportunities in education, health & jobs; Inclusion; Ensure inheritance; Safety in all spaces; No harassment & no violence.
Meanwhile, in his message, Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the role of the women of Pakistan who, he said, are “performing excellence in every walk of life.”
While reiterating full support to encourage women, the PM said “We’re determined to ensure the equal rights and opportunity for the women,” and added that “For this purpose, we’re taking the guidance from Islam and the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).”
The PM said “We’ll take such steps as ensuring women’s protection that would be leading to their ultimate prosperity,” adding that “only by doing this we can realise the comprehensive and durable progress both social and economic.”
