CM Mohsin Naqvi takes notice of PTI worker's death at Zaman Park

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has taken notice of the death of a PTI worker and ordered an inquiry, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister ordered that whoever is found involved, the requirements of justice under the law should be fulfilled. 

Information minister Aamir Mir said expressing his grief and sorrow over the death of an innocent person, the chief minister directed to hold an impartial and fact-based inquiry into the incident and bring the responsible to justice.

Punjab government spokesman further said that the videos shown by PTI are not of today but of old and Jail Bharu movement. 

“A deliberate lie is being spread that this person was in police custody,” he said adding that CCTV footage revealed that the deceased was dropped off at Services Hospital by a private vehicle. 

Aamir said that a search is on for the vehicle and its occupants through Safe City cameras to reveal the truth. 

“It will be possible to determine the exact facts after the post-mortem and safe city report.”

He lamented that at least 11 police personnel were injured on Wednesday due to violence by PTI workers in Zaman Park, Lahore. 

“DSPs of Sabzazar and township, SHO Hunjarwal, and 8 other policemen were also injured during the scuffle with PTI activists.  

The injured cops include Irfan, Nadeem, Bilal, Waqar, Abdul Sattar, Ali Asmed, Sikandar, and Ali Hamza.

The PTI workers pelted stones and used sticks to thwart the police from their duties.  The police personnel was seriously injured by stones and sticks, he added.
