Heat alert issued as mercury soars across country

Meteorological department experts have issued an alert that different regions in Punjab experienced hot weather with 40 Centigrade in the morning and mercury will have reached 42 to 43 degrees during the afternoon hours today.
The Met office experts also warned that the temperature in Punjab will remain at 42 to 43 degrees during afternoon hours for the next two days in different regions of Punjab including Lahore city.
The Met Office predicted that rains are expected from May 10 to 12 along with the possibility of a decrease in temperature in different regions of Punjab including Lahore.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Meteorological Department Wednesday issued cautionary instructions to the citizens and tourists while travelling.
The Department of Meteorology reported on Wednesday that the humidity in the air in Lahore city was 36 per cent while the wind was blowing at a speed of 11 kilometres per hour.
As per the report, Lahore city has become the first in the global air pollution ranking and the overall rate of the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 302.
In Karachi, the heat wave continued and the temperature is likely to go up to 38 degrees today, the Met office predicted.
Multan city in Punjab will experience maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius today. Humidity ratio in air in Multan on Wednesday was recorded 40% and the air quality index 172 points.
