Immediately summoning its accountant, the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday sought details of the amounts deposited by the Bahria Town in the apex court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A three-member bench of the SC, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa, heard the Bahria Town Karachi implementation case.
The chief justice asked where were the people who had been issued notices?
Similarly, he asked about the lawyers representing Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz’s wife and son in the case.
Salman Aslam Butt, counsel for Malik Riaz, who appeared in the court, told the CJP that he was only representing Riaz, and nobody else.
The court also ordered the Sindh government and the Malir Development Authority (MDA) to conduct a survey and also make the petitioner, Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi, part of the survey team.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Athar Minallah made it clear that under no circumstances the order of the Supreme Court will be allowed to be flouted.
Riaz’s Lawyer Salman Aslam Butt said that it was the law of the country, and not the decision of the apex court, which would prevail.
The court directed Butt to coordinate with his client.
Later the court adjourned the case’s hearing until November 23.
