Trawler crushes five mourners to death in Matiari

A speeding trawler crushed a caravan of mourners on the National Highway and killed five people in Matiari near Hyderabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

The mourners were on foot from Matiari to Qadam Gah Mola Ali in Hyderabad on the eve of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) observed on Thursday.

Three of the five dead were identified as Zebo (female), Khato (female) and 12-year-old Shakir. Matiari police shifted the injured persons including Khuda Baksh Kahsakehli, Riaz and Ulaiza in a critical condition to Civil Hospital in Matiari.

In the latest development, police have arrested the driver and conductor of the trawler.

The TV channel reported that five people including two women died when a speedy trawler/truck crashed into them at National highway near Matiari.

It is pertinent to note that Chehlum Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) was observed with religious zeal and fervour. In Sindh, mobile phone service has been suspended in various areas along the procession routes while the Sindh government has also put a ban on pillion riding.
