A pregnant woman was burnt to death in the name of honour in the Gujrat district of Punjab, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

The woman sustained severe burns after her husband and father-in-law set her ablaze to 'save honour' three days ago. The victim lost the battle for life at home and the accused planned to bury her secretly in a bid to conceal the crime.

But the neighbours informed the police about the incident. The lawmen arrested the accused and launched an inquiry. Killing women in the name of honour is not uncommon in the county.

Two sisters fell prey to 'honour killing'  in Chichawatni and the father of the slain sister alleged that the former son-in-law committed the crime last month. Man strangulated his wife to save his' honour' in Khurrianwala.
