The Sindh High Court has rejected a petition regarding exorbitant milk prices observing that if the court fixes a new price of the diary product then it is feared that the milkmen will start adding more water to it in order to increase its quantity thus vitiating its nutritious value, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court said that it had already ordered the Karachi commissioner to determine the new prices.
The Sindh High Court was hearing a petition against high milk prices in Karachi on Friday. While setting aside the petition, the court remarked that in 2018, the price of milk was fixed at Rs94 per litre.
Now everything has become expensive and if court issues a new order in this regard, then milkmen would add more water, let’s say instead of adding 4 litres, he would add 6 liters of water to milk, the court observed.
The court insisted that it wanted prices to be determined through the market price mechanism. It said the court had already ordered city commissioner to determine new prices in another case.
