Electric supply companies in the districts of Khanewal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Kasur are facing difficulties in revenue recovery, resulting in substantial financial losses, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
In Khanewal, these power companies are facing losses amounting to Rs 2 billion, while Sahiwal is struggling with losses of 400 million rupees.
Okara and Kasur are also experiencing substantial financial setbacks, with losses amounting to Rs 170 million and Rs 190 million respectively.
An alarming situation has emerged in Kasur, where 823,582 consumers are provided electricity services of Rs 122 billion worth. The distribution company in Kasur is facing a staggering loss of 19 billion.
In Okara, where 759,609 consumers are served with electricity of Rs 57 billion worth. The power supply company is facing a financial strain with losses of Rs 7 billion.
Khanewal is facing similar challenges, with 542,160 consumers receiving electricity worth 35 billion rupees, resulting in a loss of Rs 2 billion for the distribution company.
In Sahiwal, distribution companies are supplying power to 4 71, 456 consumers worth of Rs 36.60 billion. They are recovering Rs 36.40 billion and facing a loss of Rs 200 million.
The consistent pattern of losses and revenue recovery issues across Khanewal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Kasur raises questions about the efficacy of the electricity distribution system in these areas.
