Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday inaugurated Chief Minister Transport Programme for Women according to which buses will be provided to different girl colleges in three phases, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Higher Education Commission Secretary Dr Farrukh Naveed briefed the chief minister about salient features of this programme. He said that these buses will be distributed among 76 girl colleges in three phases.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz handed over keys of these buses to respective principals of these colleges. She also interacted with the girl students.
In the first phase buses were distributed among 19 tehsils which includes in Bhakkar, Sialkot, Kamalia, Hasilpur, Malickwal, Ferozewala, Shorkot, Jatoi, Fateh Jang, Hassanabdal women colleges, while women colleges of Kot Momin, Jalalpur Pirwala, Kalar Saydan, Pindi Ghep, Minchinabad, Shariqpur also obtained new buses.
During the second phase new buses will be distributed in women colleges of Nowshera Virkan, Dina, Yazman, Pindi Bhatian, Laliyan, Bohwana, Kot Addu, Taxila, Sarai Alamgir and Pupplan .
Women colleges which located in Allama Iqbal Town Lahore, Esa Khel, Raiwind, and Sohawa will also get new buses in February 2025.
Chief Minister Nawaz Sharif also examined these buses. She said that she will consider a proposal regarding air-conditioned buses for women colleges
