Twitter has been trending with hashtag #JusticeForMarwah demanding justice for Marwah, a five-year-old girl kidnapped, raped and murdered in Essa Nagri area of the port city.
Police said an investigation has been launched into the rape-and-murder case after rescue officials recovered the child’s body stuffed in a bori (gunny bag) on Sunday evening.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre where a post-mortem examination was held. According to the autopsy report, the victim had been sexually assaulted and had died from head injuries.
Many people and celebrities have demanded justice for Marwah.
Taking to Twitter, Singer Asim Azhar wrote: “How many more angels like Marwah till we wake up? I’m sorry Marwah, yahan ye zyada tension hai ke kaun kaise kaprhe pehen raha hai, kaun kisse shaadi kar raha hai, kaun shia hai kaun sunni... bas kuch nahi hai tou wo insaaniyat (Here, people are more concerned about what kind of clothes women are wearing, who is marrying whom, who is Sunni, who is Shia. What's missing is humanity),” he said.

Actor and activist Nadia Jamil said: “She was five. The image we have of her is a smiling child holding our national flag. I have been asking to be heard, for seven years, since the Kasur tragedy. We desperately need a deep-rooted, widespread, national prevention/protection plan,” she insisted.
