Pakistan International Airline (PIA) is hopeful of resuming its flights to the UK and Europe after a safety audit by the Department for Transport (DfT) of the UK in October.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, a DfT delegation will visit Karachi in the last week of October and conduct a comprehensive review of PIA's safety management system, especially for its Boeing 777 aircraft.
The sources said the DfT will also audit the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA) after inspecting PIA.
The PIA spokesperson said that the airline has completed all the preparations for the DfT visit and is confident of meeting the safety standards required by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The PIA spokesperson also expressed optimism that PIA will be able to restore its flights to the UK and Europe soon after the DfT audit next month.
