Pakistani classical singer Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan passed away in Lahore on Thursday night. He was 81.
According to family sources, the singer has been ill for the last few days and he suffered a heart attack on Thursday that resulted in his death at a hospital in the Punjab capital. His funeral prayers will be offered in Shahdara Town at 11:00am on Friday.
Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan​ is a prominent artist of the Kirana Gharana. His primary music education was give by his paternal uncle Ghazanfar Ali Khan and he calls Ustad Amir Khan his spiritual teacher. He was awarded the 6th Lifetime Achievement Award by the All Pakistan Music Conference, the Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan and he represented Pakistan internationally many times.
