Punjab cabinet approves Rs3.9bn for Riot Management Force equipment

The Punjab cabinet has approved Rs3.95 billion for the purchase of modern equipment for the Riot Management Force, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday. 
According to sources in the police, the Finance Department will issue a notification approving the funds for the purchase of equipment. 
Police sources said 30 police buses, 10 water cannons, and 20 prisoner vans will be purchased for state peace.
Moreover, 40 new armoured pickups will be purchased for the force at a cost of Rs294.8 million, police sources said.
Armoured rescue vehicles and ambulances will also be purchased to maintain peace in big cities. 
It was also decided to purchase 50,000 tear gas shells at the cost of Rs 50 million. 
As many as 100 stun guns and 100 rubber bullet guns will be handed over to the force to deal with protesters.
About 75 surveillance cameras and 12 satellite phones will be purchased. 
The force will be given drones, night vision goggles, and body cams, while 5,000 new uniforms, sleeping bags, and 100 police barriers are also included in the purchase list.
Not less than Rs 590.5 million will be spent on equipment, Rs 3.35 billion on transport, and Rs 590 million on equipment.
