Strict security measures have been taken across the country in view of mourning processions to be taken out today (Yaum-e-Ashura, Muharram 10th) as large contingents of police and Rangers have been deployed along the routes of processions as well as near imambargahs to avert any untoward incident, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In several cities, cellphone services have been suspended while a ban has been imposed on pillion riding as well.

Police and Rangers personnel are manning routes of processions in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad while Pakistan Army personnel are on a standby.

On the other hand, Rescue Service in Punjab has declared Code Red to provide services to the people, especially the mourners, on the eve of 10th of Muharram, without any delay.

Spokesman for the department has asked people to call on WhatsApp in case cellphone services in their areas are suspended.

He has further said that a special cell has been set up in the province to monitor rescue activities.

In Faisalabad, police and Rangers personnel are on their toes as the main procession has been taken out from Dhobi Ghat area of the city.
