The Punjab government has not been providing the school education department with funds, adding to teachers’ troubles, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Hundreds of cases of leave encashment and financial aid to the families of teachers who died during service are pending.
According to sources, the provincial government has been depriving the school education department of Rs6 billion to clear the outstanding dues.
The reason for the nonpayment of funds is stated to be a lack of amendments to the provincial financial share of education authorities.
More than Rs2 billion is required to clear leave encashment dues of the teachers.
