The deadlock between Machh mourners and the government has ended as the protesting family members of slain Hazara community members agreed to bury their loved ones on Friday night.
The Hazara community staged the sit-ins for the last six days across the country against the killings of 11 coalminers in Machh. The victims will be buried tomorrow at 10am.
The development came after the successful talks held between the dharna committee and the government’s dialogue body comprised Balcohistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal, Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Ali Haider Zaidi, SAPM Zulfikar Bukhari, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Soori and others.
On the other side, all the arrangements have been finalised at Noor Khan Airbase for the departure of Prime Minister to Quetta. Prime Minister Imran Khan can fly to Quetta any time.
Talking to the media, Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi said that discrimination with any community in the country should be ended now.
Reading out the written agreement, Zaidi said that all the demands of the mourners had been accepted including the suspension of the police high-ups.
He said that a high-level commission has been formed which will be headed by Balochistan Home Minister Zialullah while two MPAs, two provincial officers, one DIG-ranked police officer and two members of Shuhda committee will be its members. The commission will meet at least in a month.
Zaidi said that the federal government in collaboration with the provincial government will devise a strategy to make foolproof security of the Balochistan.
He said that a special committee will be formed to fix ID problems of the Hazara community. He said that the committee consists of officials of Nadra, Passport office and two members of Shuhda committee.
Zaidi said that the Balochistan government will provide jobs to the victim families.
He also announced scholarships for victims of the Machh tragedy from the CSR funds of Prots and Shipping Ministry.
Zaidi said that the APS attack changed the mindset of the Pakistanis. Foreign powers do not want peaceful and prosper Pakistan.
Clarifying the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement about the Hazara community, he said that the PM did not address the Hazara community. He said that the PM would clarify his statement during his visit to the Quetta.
Speaking on the occasion, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal lauded the Shuhda Committee for ending their sit-ins. He said that prime minister and chief of army staff will also visit Quetta.
At the end, Agha Raza announced calling off sit-ins across the country. He thanked the federal ministers and Balochistan CM for accepting their demands.
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Soori said that PM Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa will reach Quetta after the burial of the Machh tragedy victims.
Earlier, countrywide protests had been started to express solidarity with the members of the Hazara community who are waiting for Prime Minister Imran Khan so that they can bury their loves ones.
The sit-in protesters were demanding of the authorities to fulfil the demands of members of the Hazara community of Quetta. After a major protest sit-in was staged in Islamabad, protests were also being held in other cities of the Punjab including Hafizabad.
