Experts discuss proposals to cut LLB course duration to 4 years

A meeting of legal and academic experts on Thursday discussed various aspects of a proposal to cut the duration of the LLB programme from five years to four years.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Ziaul Qayyum, Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Member Hassan Raza Pasha and Directorate of Legal Education Director Barrister Usama Maalik chaired the meeting attended by representatives of 44 universities from all over Pakistan.

The participants at the meeting laid stress on improving the LLB syllabus to international standards. Barrister Usama Maalik and Hassan Raza Pasha underlined the need for making the LLB programme compatible with the needs of modern times.

Issues like enforcement of semester system, faculty training and quality control came under discussion at the meeting.
