NA health panel takes up MDCAT exam conduct

Meeting of the Standing Committee on Health of the National Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Mahesh Kumar in Islamabad on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The committee was briefed regarding the MDCAT exam held recently across the country.

Vice Chancellor IBA Sukkur Asif Sheikh suggested that the MDCAT test should be made biometric. He said children went to court due to the difficult exam. “If there is a similar paper in the entire country, children will not have difficulty.” 

Committee Member Shazia Subia Soomro said these questions are not for undergraduates and children are committing suicide due to the results of these exams and we all are responsible. 

Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Dr Mukhtar Bharath said that a separate quota was given to Punjab so that students from Islamabad are not neglected and open merit was abolished. 

Recommendations have been sent to the Prime Minister for approval regarding the allocation of quota, Dr Mukhtar Bharath said.
