Former Lollywood gal Noor Bukhari has defended her decision to wear the hijab, addressing critics in a recent Instagram post.
"Wearing hijab or covering my head is my own personal choice. I have not done it for you, so stop commenting on my choice," she stated, urging detractors to respect her autonomy.
The debate surrounding women's clothing choices has been a hot topic on social media, with many advocating for the right of women to dress as they choose.
Politician and activist Sharmila Faruqui recently added her voice to the conversation, calling for an end to judgmental attitudes after criticism of actresses Hania Aamir and Yashma Gill's outfits at a wedding.
The controversy stirred when veteran actor Hina Bayat objected to the actresses’ fashion choices during the wedding of Yashma Gill’s sister.
In response, Faruqui took to Instagram, emphasizing that clothing is a personal decision and should not be the subject of public debate. "Let women live their lives the way they want to. Clothing is a personal choice, not a public debate," she asserted.
Yashma Gill and Hania Aamir caught the spotlight with their energetic dance performances during the wedding celebrations, but their fashion choices sparked debate among attendees.
Noor Bukhari, who retired from acting a few years ago after a successful career in Punjabi and Urdu films, has also faced controversy over her decision to adopt a more religious lifestyle.
