The US dollar again showed persistency in making gains against the rupee as its value was up by 71 paisas in inter-bank rate on Tuesday and closed the session at Rs164.33, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

But it was euro which performed best in the open market as it reached the level of Rs184 after a gain of Rs2, while the pound ended the day at Rs207 after gaining Rs1.

The dollar has gained Rs1.03 against the rupee in the first two days of the week in inter-bank rate. During the last rally spread over four business days, the dollar was up by Rs3.97.
