PTI MNA and famous television show host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain passed away at his residence in Karachi on Thursday. He was 49, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PTI leader was found unconscious at his home and shifted to a private hospital in a critical condition where he was declared dead.
Reportedly, Dr Aamir Liaquat felt uneasiness Wednesday night but refused to go to the hospital. His servant rushed to his room after he shouted in pain but the door was locked. The servants broke the door when they did not receive any reply from him.
Karachi DIG (West) Muqaddas Haider confirmed that Aamir Liaquat expired half an hour before he was shifted to a hospital.
The police officer said Liaquat's condition deteriorated early in the morning after which he was moved to Aga Khan University Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
He said that there were no signs of torture found on Aamir Liaquat's body. He added that initial reports show no foul play; however, the post-mortem examination of the politician will be conducted at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
The Karachi DIG said post-mortem of the body will be carried out and the police teams have also been collecting evidence from the site as well.
Aamir Liaquat was shifted to a private hospital near National Cricket Stadium in Karachi.
Hospital sources said that Amir Liaquat's condition was very critical.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East said the police will also obtain CCTV footage to gather and ascertain the facts which led to the death of the PTI leader.
The police cordoned off his bedroom after collecting evidence. Police said that the family’s permission has been acquired for an autopsy after which a report will be prepared on the cause of death.

Furthermore, the statement of Amir’s driver Javed will also be taken by the police as he is the one who informed the police about the incident. A time for Aamir Liaquat’s funeral prayers will be announced later.
It has also been reported that Aamir Liaquat died in his room at his residence due to suffocation, as per police his house was full of smoke due to generator. The police, however, said everything will become clear after post-mortem.
NA Session postponed
National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has adjourned the session till Friday 5pm after hearing the news of the demise of Aamir Liaquat.

Aamir Liaquat was a high-ranking TV anchor who had been named three times on the list of the world’s 500 most influential Muslims.
Aamir Liaquat had joined the PTI in March 2018 and was elected as MNA from Karachi in the general elections held later that year. He had later fallen out with the party.
He had earlier been a key leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and had parted ways with the party in August 2016, saying at the time that he would be leaving politics.
President, PM condole demise of Dr Aamir Liaquat
President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed condolences over the sudden demise of broadcaster, television presenter, and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Dr Aamir Liaquat.
The president extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family of the deceased and prayed to God to grant patience to them to bear the loss with fortitude.
The prime minister also prayed to God to grant forgiveness to Dr Aamir Liaquat, and he also prayed for the elevation of his ranks in the afterlife.
The prime minister prayed to Allah Almighty to grant courage to the family of the deceased to bear the loss with equanimity.
Zardari, Bilawal, Maryam express condolences
Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also expressed grief over the demise of Dr Aamir Liaquat.
“The news of the death of Dr Aamir Liaquat is very sad,” he said and extended condolences and sympathies to the family of the deceased.
He also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant forgiveness to Aamir Liaquat and elevate his ranks in the afterlife.
PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed sorrow over the death of Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
“Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain led a dynamic life from journalism to politics,” Bilawal said, adding that Aamir Liaquat proved his mettle in various fields of life from writing and speech.
He said that he was shocked by the news of the death of Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, adding: “I pray for the elevation of Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain to higher ranks in the Paradise and for the grant of patience and courage to the bereaved family members.”
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz also expressed her grief over the demise of Dr Aamir Liaquat. She prayed to Allah Almighty to grant forgiveness to Aamir Liaquat and elevate his ranks in the afterlife.
