Patron-in-Chief All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Gohar Ejaz has said that textile exports this year could drop by $3 billion, from $19 billion to $16 billion, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
In a letter to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, he has said if steps are not taken on a war footing, the exports could drop further.
He has complained that gas and electricity are being provided to industries in Punjab at exorbitant rates.
APTMA patron-in-chief has said that the withdrawal of competitive rates of gas and electricity will adversely affect the exports, and is expected to cause loss of Rs10 billion to the textile sector.
Gohar has stressed the need for increasing textile exports for the country’s progress.
