Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) big gun Jehangir Khan Tareen has announced launching a new political party namely Isttehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

He made the announcement while addressing a press conference along with a number of ex-PTI members including Aleem Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, Numan Langrial, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Aoun Chaudhry, Fayyazul Hasan Chohan, Murad Raas, Pir Saeedul Hasan Shah, Ali Zaidi and Imran Ismail.

“I am not a traditional politician, Jahangir Khan Tareen said, adding “I got into politics to play my part in the development of the country.

“I joined PTI hoping Pakistan would progress, that was why I enthusiastically started strengthening it.

“I worked day and night to make it a strong political force.  Unfortunately, things did go well.  Our efforts could not bore fruit.”

He continued: “On May 9, state assets and sensitive installation were targeted. The miscreants must be brought to justice. All those events are condemnable.

“Today, people are worried. They lack leadership.

They need relief. They need stability.  We gather here to play our part in efforts to overcome the prevailing crisis. And putting the country on path to stability.”

He stressed that government and the opposition have to understand their constitutional responsibilities.

He laid emphasis on the betterment of farmers and taking care of the rural population.

“Our party will be the voice of people, especially marginalized people, ”  he said.

Aleem Khan said he contacted all his friends and decided to gather them on one platform.

He added: “The political insight shown by Jahangir Tareen is in front of everyone and we join hands to make Pakistani a state envisaged by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”

Last month, PTI activists took to the streets to vent their spleen against the arrest of ex-PM Imran Khan in a corruption case.

They also attacked GHQ in Rawalpindi, Jinnah House in Lahore and Radio Pakistan in Peshawar.

A number of members announced partying ways with the party in protest against rioting.
