Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said on Saturday that the shortage of water was increasing in the country due to the phenomenon of climate change, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a conference on climate change in Islamabad organized under the auspices of Law and Justice Commission, the SC judge said such changes had also resulted in food shortage in the country.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa was the chief guest on the occasion.
He was of the view that the phenomenon could not be tackled without setting up a ‘Climate Fund’.
At the same time, however, he said that it was not easy for a country like Pakistan to set up a large fund for the purpose.
Justice Mansoor recalled that Pakistan had witnessed devastating floods in 2022 due to which it suffered the loss of billions of dollars.
He went on to say that Pakistan was the fifth country most affected by the emissions of greenhouse gases into the air.
